Position Summary & Responsibilities:
As an Independent Living Protection Specialist, you will:
Deliver services to youth exiting the foster care system. Participate in case plans for youth 16 and over while in DCF custody to assure transition planning is occurring. When a youth is released, the IL Child Protection Specialist develops a case plan with the youth to assist them in becoming self-sufficient/continuing their education. This involves being available to the youth regularly and when there is a crisis, and connecting the youth with resources or paying for the resource from IL funds. IL Coordinators also assist clients in navigating post-secondary education systems. IL Coordinators attempt to meet with the youth on their caseload monthly.

Minimum Qualifications - Education
Four-year degree in a Human Services or Behavioral Sciences field of study, or education determined relevant by the agency. Valid Driver’s License must be maintained throughout employment. A copy of Valid Driver’s License is to be provided upon hire.
