The Labor and Employee Relations function seeks to prevent and resolve issues involving employees that may arise out of, or affect work situations. Labor and Employee Relations is also responsible for maintaining and improving employer-employee relationships that contribute to employee engagement, motivation, morale, and performance.
Manages the negotiation preparation with management and senior leadership in preparing strategy and proposals to determine feasibility, cost effects on operations and relationship to prevailing trends in the industry and the geographic area. Acts as Chief Negotiator for assigned unions.
Builds and maintains ongoing, long-term relationships between negotiating parties; advocate and champion a productive management/union working environment.
The Labor and Employee Relations Manager will lead investigations, determine policy direction, handle complaints, review employee & organizational trends, monitor laws and regulations while collaborating with key partners.
Additionally, the Labor and Employee Relations Manager will drive programs and processes that facilitate education, awareness, and effective employee solutions, while ensuring alignment with CHA's corporate culture and values.
Bachelor's required with advanced degree and/or professional certifications preferred. JD preferred (Will be titled Assistant General Counsel if new hire obtains a JD).
5-7 years' Labor and Employee relations experience in a collaborative environment required.
First chair negotiations experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to influence, communicate and build relationships at all levels. Strong conflict management skills. Proven results in demonstrating excellent facilitation skills required.
Proficient knowledge of employment, wage and hour, FMLA and EEO laws.
Proven team player. Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, flexible. Good reasoning abilities. Sound judgment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of adversaries on diverse issues. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Sense of humor. Ability to have parties with differing opinions come to mutual understandings. Ability to persuade others into mutual beneficial goals and settlements. Ability to mediate disputes between individuals.
