Human Resources/Payroll Specialist

JOB PURPOSE: The Human Resource Specialist will collaborate with senior leadership to plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and Harmony Health staff, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy. The Payroll Specialist will process bi-weekly payroll and maintain employee time records.


· Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention

· Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs

· Administers human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development

· Develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management

· Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance

· Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management

· Assists senior leadership in developing and implementing departmental budget

· Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for staff

· Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information

· Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions

· Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements

· Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge

· Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits

· Performs other duties as assigned

· Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software



· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required


· At least five years of human resource management experience required

· Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

· Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
