HR Director

Description:
The Human Resources Director is responsible for directing and coordinating all daily human resources activities, for staff of 100+ full-time employees, such as recruiting, employment, training and development, compensation, benefits, payroll, performance management and employee relations. The HR Director ensures that all human resources and related programs support the organization’s goals, policies, and objectives within the appropriate state and federal regulations and generally accepted standards of sound human resource management practices.

Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Direct and participate in the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations issues; anticipate problems wherever possible; develop, recommend and initiate appropriate steps for resolution.
  • Process semi-monthly payroll and assist with finance reporting.
  • Maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resource management; identify trends that could impact organizational objectives and/or operational resources; interpret appropriate laws and policies and advise management and employees accordingly.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Oversee employee benefit program responsibilities by directing the administration of the group health and life insurance plans, flexible spending and dependent care programs, transit, retirement, COBRA, HIPPA and FMLA; plan modifications of existing benefit programs and recommend changes to management; notify employees of changes to benefit plans
  • Serve as primary contact with benefits providers and brokers of group health and life, workers compensation, unemployment and retirement plans.
  • Responsible for compliance around benefits plans, including 401k audits.

  • Conduct recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt personnel and temporary employees; conduct new-employee orientations
  • Conduct employee relations counselling, outplacement counselling, and exit interviewing; write and place advertisements.
  • Along with the Office Manager and/or HR Assistant, oversee seasonal intern program including onboarding and related administrative tasks; conduct end of internship feedback assessment to evaluate effectiveness of intern program.
  • Adapt global HR initiatives to the U.S. audience, including relevant trainings and employee programs.
  • Facilitate annual employee-centered training schedule, working with vendors, drafting RFPs and selecting facilitators.
  • Organize company sponsored events including holiday parties, office organization events, and semi-annual company meetings; present strategic HR initiatives at semi-annual company meeting.
  • Periodically review compensation to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity; develop and/or rewrite job descriptions as necessary; collect annual salary surveys and analyze compensation; monitors performance evaluation program and revise as necessary.
  • Develop and implement employee recognition plans.
  • Establish and oversee the maintenance of department records and reports and company organization charts and directories.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
a. Supervise HR Assistant, Office Manager and Front Desk Administrator.

Person specification - Knowledge, qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources and 7-10 years of professional experience across all areas of Human Resources including recruiting, benefits, compensation, payroll, performance management, employment law, training and development and employee relations.
  • PHR or SHRM Certification strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems, particularly payroll, time and attendance, performance management and self-service. Paylocity experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information and situations with discretion and care.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions.
